It is never easy going to a large company and asking for donations. It sounds simple enough but there are steps and procedures and budgets and reasons that sometimes make it difficult to do so. The company needs to know you are doing what you say you are doing with their products and believe in the same cause you do.
Pelican is an organization that has never hesitated to step up and support Many To One. My first meeting with the Pelican Team was at SHOT Show 2012. What an enthusiastic group and willingness to back a cause that supported our military in kind. When I left Vegas, I was assured that they would donate something, but I did not know what yet. Then the boxes came…not one but two LARGE containers arrived on our steps. I anticipated, perhaps, a couple of water-proof boxes but no: MANY containers in all sizes (including a Storm Case) were donated to our first online auction.
For our second online auction supporting the Canadian Fallen Firefighter Foundation, I was hesitant to push my luck and their generosity. However, firefighters love waterproof containers and Pelican is the lead manufacturer that came up over and over again. So once again, I emailed my contact and she responded with a big YES! Again, another Storm Case arrived. But that was not all: inside were several submersible flashlights! What a perfect donation for an auction supporting firefighters.
Again I thanked Pelican for their continued generosity and their response was simple: do something good with our donations, continue “to share the love” and carry on. That is what we will do – continue to raise funds for established organizations, share the generosity of great companies that support us and move forward to develop more events and programs that help those battling PTSD.
We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Pelican and Ms. Wainwright for their continued generosity in both our online auctions. Some organizations offer donations but within limits. Your generosity has exceed all expectations and for that, we are thankful. We wish much success to Pelican and look forward to working with them again.
